Information
Pa Hin Ngam National Park has an area of approximately 62,437.50 rai, or 99.9 square kilometers. It is located in the Thep Sathit and Sap Yai District, Chaiyaphum Province. It is the headwater of the Chi River Basin and the Pa Sak River, with many beautiful natural features in particular Krachiao flower or Siam-Tulip field.
Background
Lan Hin Ngam was known only to local residents in 1985. Later, in 1985, the Thep Sathit District Chief and the Forest Department of Thep Sathit District inspected the area and found a beautiful natural stone courtyard that was worthy of conservation as tourist attractions and leisure activities for the general public. It was therefore presented to the Royal Forest Department via the Chaiyaphum Provincial Government. In the beginning, the Royal Forest Department declared the area as Pa Hin Ngam Forest Park on October 10, 1986, covering an area of approximately 10 square kilometers, or 6,250 rai.
Later, in 1993, the Royal Forest Department conducted a thorough survey of nearby areas and found that there were still other fertile forest areas. In total, an area of is about 112 square kilometers, or 70,000 rai which has already been separated from the village by land reform. This pre-national park establishment area was geologically outstanding with beautiful strange rock formation, Pink-purple Krachiao flowers, which are an endemic plant species, blooming in the early rainy season and beautiful waterfallsh. It should be preserved in the form of a national park.
Consequently, the Royal Forest Department issued an order 1642/2537 for Mr. Wiwat Chanpuak, a Forestry Technical Officer, Level 5, a position number 2459, of Ramkhamhaeng National Park, Sukhothai, to proceed and establish the forest area as a National Park under the National Park Act B.E. 2504 and to act as the superintendent of this Pa Hin Ngam National Park as well.
Consequently, in 2007, there was a royal decree specifying the land area of the Na Yang Klak forest in Pong Nok, Na Yang Klak, Ban Rai and Wa Tabaek Sub-district, Thep Sathit District, and Sap Yai Sub-district, Sap Yai Minor District, Chaturat District, Chaiyaphum Province as a National Park which was announced in the Government Gazette, Volume 124, Part 26 Ko, dated June 6, 2007. It is classified as the 105th national park in the country.

The topography is a mountain range, consisting of mountains such as Khao Phang Hoei, with a height of about 200-800 meters. In terms of geology, the areas contain Phu Phan formation, Phra Wihan Formation, and Phu Kradueng Formation. The rock formations belong to the Jurassic and Triassic periods which is approximately 180-230 million years old. The area is the source of the Chi River Basin (Chi River), the Sonthi Stream, which flows into the Pa Sak River.

Generally, the climate is under the influence of the southwest monsoon and the northeast monsoon because the Phang Hoei Mountain range blocking off in the north-south line. The southeast monsoon brings moisture from the sea into a large amount of rain in the area. According to the data of the Pa Hin Ngam National Park Weather Station during the years 2000-2003, it was found that the average annual rainfall was 1,782.6 mm, with the number of rainy days 109 days/year, with the most rain in August, measured at 338.3 mm. The highest average temperature in April was 33 degrees Celsius, and the lowest average in December was 18.3 degrees Celsius, with an average year-round temperature of 24.8 degrees Celsius. Considering the nature of temperature, rainfall, and relative humidity, the seasons can be divided as follows: The rainy season is from May to September, with an average rainfall of 278.5 millimeters. |

The forest conditions are mixed deciduous dipterocarp forest and dry evergreen forest. There is Hairy Keruing as a dominant plant, and there are Burma Sal, Shorea siamensis, White-Meranti, Evergreen Chinkapin, Barking Deer's Mango., Burma Padauk, Giant crepe-myrtle, Great elephant apple, etc. Wild animals include Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Wild Hare, Pangolin, Bamboo rat, Asian palm civet, Squirrels, Monkeys, etc.

How to get there by car :
From Bangkok, take National Highway No. 1 passing Sara Buri. After reaching Ban Phu Khae,turn right onto National Highway No. 21 to Chai Badan District. Then take National Highway No. 205 passing Lam Sonthi Minor District. About 1 kilometer before reaching Thep Sathit District, turn left onto National Highway No. 2354 for about 17 kilometers and turn left onto the road for about 13 kilometers, then you will reach the Pa Hin Ngam National Park Headquarters. The total distance is about 270 kilometers.
