It has been declared as a national park in the Royal Gazette, Volume 97, Part 208, dated December 31, 1980, and is the 23rd national park in Thailand, with an area of 135,737.50 rai, or approximately 217.18 squar kilometers. The land of the National Reserved Forest, Phu Laen Kha Forest on the southern part, Na Fai, Na Siao, Huai Ton, and Tha Hin Ngom Sub-district, Mueang Chaiyaphum District, Chaiyaphum Province, is established as the Tat Ton National Park area.
The North borders with the Phu Laenkha National Reserved Forest The Southern part borders with Hin Ngom Sub-district, Mueang Chaiyaphum District and Kao Ya Di Sub-district, Kaeng Khro District, Chaiyaphum Province.
The East borders with the forest that is prepared to be a Preserved Forest No. 10, Plot 1 (Phu Khong Forest), Kaeng Khro District and Na Sieo Sub-district, Mueang Chaiyaphum District, Chaiyaphum Province.
The South borders with Na Fai Sub-district, Mueang Chaiyaphum District, Chaiyaphum Province
The West borders with the Provincial Highway No. 2159 Chaiyaphum-Nong Bua Daeng, Huai Ton Sub-district, Mueang Chaiyaphum District, Chaiyaphum Province.

General characteristics of Tat Ton National Park is composed of complex mountains landscape. The area of the park on the northwest side is home to Khao Phu Khiao, Phu Klang, and Phu Lan Kha, which is at 905 meters above mean sea level. In the northeast, there is Phu Khong, which is the highest peak in Tat Ton National Park which is at approximately 945 meters above mean sea level. The low area in the southern part of the park is a slope area with a slope direction (aspect) towards the south. This area is about 200 meters above sea level. In terms of the slope of the area, it is a relatively flat. In the middle of the area along the valley that Lam Pha Thao flowing through, there is a relatively flat and the area in the northwestern part of the national park is also relatively flat. Most of the national park has a slope of 10-15%.

Tat Ton National Park: is located in an area that is influenced by both the southwest and the northeast monsoon.The seasons are divided into 3 seasons: summer from February to May, the rainy season from June to September, and winter from October to January. The climate data from the weather station in Mueang district, Chaiyaphum province, which was measured and collected by the Climate Division of the Meteorological Department, during the years 1961-1990, it can be summarized as follows: Temperature: The average annual temperature is 27.60 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature month is April; the temperature reaches 42.60 degrees Celsius, and the lowest month is January; the lowest temperature is 7 degrees Celsius.Relative humidity: the annual average relative humidity is 47%. The average highest relative humidity occurs in September, which can be as high as 93%, while the average lowest relative humidity occurs in March, which is only 35%.Rainfall: The average annual rainfall is 1,153.50 mm. The month with the highest rainfall is September, which measures up to 270.50 millimeters, while the month with the least amount of precipitation is January, with an average of 3.30 millimeters |

Flora: Tat Ton National Park is located at an altitude of between 200-945 meters above mean sea level. Therefore, plant communities vary with altitude. It can be classified into two types: Deciduous dipterocarp forest is found scatterly in the area of Tat Ton National Park, approximately 94.93 square kilometers, or about 43.71% of the National Park Forest area. The height of the upper canopy is about 15-20 meters. Significant vegetation in this class includes Dipterocarpus tuberculatus, Shorea siamensis, Xylia xylocarpa, Terminalia corticosa., Canarium subulatum, Quercus kerrii, and Sindora siamensis. The secondary canopy consists fo Ismall trees withthe height of about 5-10 meters. The important plants in this class are Dalbergia oliveri, Yellow Latan Palm, Morinda elliptica, Mitragyna brunonis, Mangifera caloneura, Cratoxylum formosum and Haldina cordifolia. The undergrowth layers mostly consists the seedlings of the upper layer and Vietnamosasa are commonly found. Other types of plants are Dendrolobium triangulare, Phyllanthus niruri, Ferns, Rothmannia wittii, Dalbergia cana ., Pueraria mirifica, and Stemona tuberosa , etc. Dry evergreen forest: In the area of Tat Ton National Park, this type of forest is found scattered along the creek. It has an area of approximately 35.01 square kilometers, or about 16.12 percent of the National Park area. The plants can be divided into the following layers. The upper canopy is 25-30 meters high and the important plants are Calophyllum thorelii Pierre, Irvingia malayana, Barringtonia longipes Gagnep., Monkey Jack, Alstonia scholaris, Aglaia pirifera, and Cratoxylum formosum. The secondary canopy has a height of about 20-25 meters and important plants include Shorea talura, Adenanthera pavonina, Jambolan Plum, Hydnocarpus ilicifolius, Neolitsea cuipala, Dillenia aurea Sm. and Castanopsis spp. The third canopy has a height of approximately 15-20 meters of vegetation, including Dipterocarpus turbinatus, Protium serratum, Syzygium antisepticum, Memecylon ovatum, Melodorum fruticosum Lour., and Acronychia pedunculata. The canopy layer of small plants has a height of about 10-15 meters and important plants are Xylia xylocarpa, Artocarpus lacucha, Parinari anamense Hance, Croton stellatopilosus, Croton oblongifolius, Mull. Arg., Gardenia thailandica Tirveng., and Uvaria rufa, etc. Wildlife: Mammal includes Wild Boar, Indian Muntjac, Common Palm Civet, Javan Mongoose, Lesser Bamboo Rat, Burmese Hare, Hylopetes spadiceus, Indochinese Ground Squirrel, etc. The poultry include Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher, Red-throated Flycatcher, Hainan Blue Flycatcher, Black-crested Bulbul, Black Drongo, Barn Swallow, Lineated Barbet, Greater Coucal, Indian Roller, Greater Flameback, Thick-billed Green-Pigeon, Black-shouldered Kite, Red Junglefowl, Chinese Francolin, Oriental Magpie Robin, Asian Barred Owlet, or Short-eared Owl, etc. Reptiles include Bengal Monitor, Cobra, Blue Krait, Reticulated Python, Malayan pit viper, Orange-winged flying lizard, Skink, Spotted Forest Skink, spiny-tailed house gecko, and etc. Insects include the Adamson's Rose, the Common Rose, Lime Butterfly, The Common Bluebottle, Lesser Zebra, Plain Tiger, The Striped Blue Crow, the Common Indian Crow, Metallic Wood-boring Beetle, various Beetles, and etc. |
How to get there by car :
1. From Chaiyaphum town, take Highway No. 2051 heading to the National Park Headquarters, with a distance of 20 kilometers.
2. How to get there by bus: Take a Chaiyaphum - Tha Hin Ngom bus and get off at the toll gate, then walk for 1.5 kilometers to the Tat Ton National Park Headquarters.
