Information
The Ngao River is a large, very clean river which reflects light beautifully, particularly during the dry season, can be seen. As a result, the river received its name. Additionally, the area contains pristine rainforest, which is uncommon along other rivers. Mae Ngao National Park is approximately 257,650 rai or 412.24 square kilometers and covers the districts of Mae Sariang and Sop Moei district in Mae Hong Son Province, as well as Tha Song Yang district in Tak Province.
Background
The forest area surrounding Mae Tho National Park from Mae Tho National Park was surveyed to help justify a National Park, and it discovered that the nearby forest area had ideal forest conditions for the establishment as a new National Park. This was confirmed by the Royal Forest Department received an order 1061/2536 dated June 24th, 1993. and Mr. Niran Kamalaporn, Forestry Officer Level 5, who works at Phu Kradueng National Park, The National Park Service conducted an in-depth survey in July 19th to August 17th, 1993 into the block 2, Mae Yuam Fang-Sai National Reserved Forest.
Later, the Royal Forest Department issued an Order 614/2537 dated April 17th, 1994, for Mr. Nirun Kamalaporn conducted further research was conducted on the Mae Yuam Fang-Sai Forest in Mae Hong Son Province, including Tha Song Yang Forest in Tak Province and Omkoi Forest in Chiang Mai Province. In, 1995, there was a resolution approving the establishment of a National Park which is currently still in process to determine the area of approximately 412.2 square kilometers.

How to get there by car :
Visitors can take one of two routes to the park:
1. From Bangkok - Mae Sot District, continue on Highway No. 105 (Mae Sot - Mae Sariang) for 190 kilometers to Ban Mae Ngao, which is where the entrance to Mae Ngao National Park is. Turn right onto a concrete road to reach the Mae Ngao National Park Headquarters 4 kilometers from the entrance.
2. On Highway No. 108 (Chiang Mai - Mae Sariang) travel for 191 kilometers to Mae Sariang District (Ban Chom Chaeng), then turn left onto National Highway No. 105 for 40 kilometers to Ban Mae Ngao, where visitors should turn left onto a concrete road and enter Mae Ngao National Park Headquarters which is 4 kilometers from the entrace.
Between Mae Sariang and Mae Sot pass, there is an orange pick-up truck taxi (at the entrance of Ban Mae Ngao National Park).

The majority of topography is in the form of tower karst mountains. In them there are hill evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests, and deciduous dipterocarp forest which are the perfect habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. It is also a catchment area for numerous rivers, including the Mae Rit River, Ngao River, Muang Creek, and Makok Creek. These rivers eventually flow into the Moei and Salawin rivers.

Features of the Climate

Flora and Wildlife - Mixed Deciduous Forest include Teak, Iron Wood, Terminalia alata Heyne, Dalbergia dongnaiensis, Dalbergia assamica, and Burma Padauk. - Hill Evergreen Forest there are many different plant species that sprout near the highest summits. These include Holttum's Staghorn, ferns and mosses, cling to the branches as essential plants. Ferns,ground orchids, and Zingiberaceae cover the lower ground. The most common wild animals include wild boars, Common Palm Civet, Asiatic Black Bear, Indian Muntjac, monkeys, Langur, gibbons, Serow, Pteromyini, Golden Jackal, Dhole, Burmese Hare, Red Junglefowl, Racket-Tailed Drongo, Myna, Red-Bellied Blue Magpie, Barbet, Short-Eared Owl, Nuthatch, Barred Buttonquail, Mynas, Jungle Crow, Cobra, Banded Krait, Reticulated Python, Rat Snake, Limnonectes blythii, Mastacembelidae, Giant Gouramy, scaled fishes, Mahseer Barb, Goby, Red Tailed Mystus, and the Devil Catfish. |
