Information
Khun Nan National Park encompasses approximately 155,375 rai or 248.6 square kilometers in Bo Kluea in Nan, and is located within the Doi Phu Kha and Pha Daeng National Reserved Forest in Phu Fa, Bo Kluea Tai and Dong Phaya Sub-district, Bo Kluea District in Nan Province.
Background
The National Park was first considered in October 1996 the Protected Area Regional Office received a report from Doi Phu Kha National Park, Nan Province, indicating that the forestafter areas in the Doi Phu Kha National Reserved Forest and Pha Daeng Forest on the east side of Doi Phu Kha National Park in Bo Kluea District and Chalerm Phra Kiat District were affected by forest fires. It is a little over 620 square kilometers or 387,500 rai in size and the forest is fertile and abundant in plant species. There is biological diversity and awe-inspiring natural beauty which provide many tourist attractions. As a result, they requested that the National Parks section expedite the process of sending officials to conduct a survey to determine the location of a new National Park.
Mr. Sonchai Latrot, a Forestry Officer 5, was assigned by the Royal Forest Department in July 1997 to conduct a preliminary survey of the area and assess the site's potential for designation as a National Park. He completed the preliminary survey of the area on September 30th, 1997, after a 90-day period. Mr. Sonchai Latrot prepared an initial survey report outlined the need for a National Reserved Forest in Doi Phu Kha Forest, and Pha Daeng Forest, and that it should be converted into a National Park. It proposed renaming a national park within this permanent reserve area "Khun Nan National Park," because of the mountains and rivers in the area.
         On October 21st 1997, Mr Sonchai Latrot was order to conduct a survery into the Khun Nan National Park in Nan Province, and it was declared a National Park in March 1999. Mr. Sonchai Rachroj completed a survey report in March 1999 that detailed the area to be designated as Khun Nan National Park then notify the Royal Forest Department in order to be informed and make further decision.
Khun Nan National Park is currently approximately 155,375 rai or 248.6 square kilometers in size and is located in Phu Fa, Bo Kluea Tai and Dong Phaya Sub-district, and Bo Kluea District in Nan Province.

 | The topography of the area is that of a catchment area with a Class 1 A watershed areadesignation. It has tower karsts, with complex, folded mountains that runs through the entire region. The elevation ranges between 600 - 1,745 meters above sea levelwith Doi Phi Pan Nam its highest mountain. Phu Fa Mountain range, Khun Nam Wa Noi Mountain range, Khun Nam Wa Klang Mountain range, and Phi Pan Nam Mountain range are all significant mountains in the area. On the mountains there is no plain area suitable for permanent agriculture but there is the Wa River, which runs through the north of the area for approximately 25 kilometers. The Wa River originates in Ban Nam Wa, Bo Kluea Nuea sub-district, outside the area designated to be announced as Khun Nan National Park in Ban Sapan in Dong Phaya sub-district, with its main catchment area in the Phi Pan Nam Mountain range. The river runs through the heart of the designated area as khun Nan National Park in Ban Phasuk, Phu Fa sub-district, and Nam Pat, Nam Pat, Ti Creek, Ha Creek, and Nam Pa are significant creeks that flow into Wa River. | 
| The designated area as Khun Nan National Parkis located in the most north, between latitudes 18.59-19.14 degrees north and longitudes 101.9-101.20 degrees east. The topography is characterized by a high mountain range. The area's air temperature ranges between 1 - 7 degrees Celsius in the winter and between 28 - 33 degrees Celsius in the summer. It is surrounded by forests and mountains and is remote from urban areas. so the air in the area is clean and fresh. Therefore, it is suitable to establish Khun Nan National Park as a place of relaxation and to breathe clean, unpolluted air.

|  |        Khun Nan National Park is covered hill evergreen forest for over 90% of the areaThe remainder is comprised of tropical evergreen forest and grasslands. The hill evergreen forest include Evergreen Chinkapin, Castanopsis diversifolia, Lithocarpus thomsonii, Quercus helferiana, Indo-Chinese Tanoak, Betula alnoides, Manglietia garrettii, Magnolia baillonii, Jambolan Plum, Diplazium esculentum, mosses, and Ground Orchid . The evergreen forest runs near the waterways, and Dipterocarpus, Anisoptera costata, Artocarpus lacucha, Acronychia pedunculata, Bambusa nutans, Dendrocaramus giganteus, Calameae, Arenga pinnata, and various vines were found on the lower ground.

How to get there by car :
From the Bo Kluea District in Nan Province, take Provincial Highway No. 1081 (Bo Kluea-Chalerm Prakiat) for approximately 4 kilometers, then bear right into the Khun Nan National Park Headquarters.
Routes to Khun Nan National Park
      - From Nan town, take Highway No. 1169 for approximately 43 kilometers. Turn right onto Highway No. 1081 and travel approximately 53 kilometers to the Uan Sub-District Intersection. When visitors reach Bo Kluea, continue straight for another 6 kilometers. There is an intersection on the right that leads to Khun Nan National Park. The travel time is approximately two hours.
      - Map and route from the Nan town to Khun Nan National Park. Continue on Highway No. 1169 for approximately 43 kilometers. Turn right onto Highway No. 1081 and travel approximately 53 kilometers to the Uan sub-district Intersection. When visitors reach the Bo Kluea district intersection, continue straight for another 6 kilometers. There is an intersection on the right that leads to Khun Nan National Park. Travel time is approximately two hours.
