However, the calculated location is 262 square kilometers.
Background
Taksin Maharat National Park was previously known as "Ton Krabak Yai National Park" due to the presence of Thailand's Krabak tree (Anisoptera costata) Mr. Sawat Na Nan Chang, Technician No. 2 Telecommunication Station in Tak had heard from a member ofMuser hill tribe that there is a large tree that ten people can encircle. and a natural stone bridge. When he investigated, he discovered that it was a pristine condition deserving preservation. He sent two letters to the National Park Division, dated June 15th, 1976, and January 6th, 1977, which details outstanding natural features, such as the large Krabak tree (Anisoptera costata), natural bridge, Huai Hoi waterfall, and Mae Ya Pa Waterfall, as well as a fertile forest. Water flows throughout the year, and there are numerous wild animals.
Mr. Somyot Sukaphibun, superintendent of Lan Sang National Park, was ordered by the National Park Division. He went out to investigate and discovered that it was accurate as hearsay. It is reasonable to designate it as a National Park and went on a survey to designate the Huai Mae Lamao-Huai Ya Au National Reserved Forest in Phawo Sub-district, Mae Sot District, as a National Park, as well as the Mae Tho-Huai Tak Fang-Khwa National Reserved Forest on the Mae Tho Sub-district, Mueang Tak District.“ The area was”designated as "Ton Krabak Yai National Park" in the Government Gazette, Volume 98, Part 21’, dated December 23rd, 1981. It is Thailand's National Park number 40.
Later, National Park Division, Royal Forest Department dete“mined that changing the park’s name from "Ton Krabak Yai National Park" to "Taksin Maharat National Park" was appropriate as it was felt that honoring King Taksin the Great, was important. This would provide fortune to the National Park, as well as to commemorate the Thai nation's historic sites in ”ak Province. As a result, the Royal Forest Department proceeded to honor the royal permission to use King Taksin the Great's royal name as the National Park's name and royal permission was granted pursuant to the letter of the Grand Palace's Secretariat dated August 31st, 1986, under the name "Taksin Maharat National Park."
Apart from the abundance of forests and the terrain's unique identity, Taksin Maharat National Park also has historical significance, because in in ancient times, Khun Sam Chon, the lord of the ancient Chod town (currently in Mae Sot district), used this area as a marching route to invade Tak, a Thai frontier town at the time. Additionally, it serves as a military route into Burma, and when King Along Phaya's army returned from the siege of Ayutthaya, he fell ill and died in the forest.
