Op Luang National Park located in the northern part of Thailand between latitude 18 degrees, 3 minutes, 53 seconds to latitude 18 degrees, 24 minutes, 33 seconds, and between longitude 93 degrees, 23 minutes, 12 seconds to longitude 98 degrees, 40 minutes, 04 seconds East. It covers Doi Kaeo, Sop Tia, Mae Soi and Ban Pae Sub-district, Chom Thong District, Kong Khaek (Tha Pha) Sub-district, Mae Chaem District and Hang Dong, Hot, Na Kho Ruea, and Bo Luang Sub-district in, Hot District, Chiang Mai Province. The northern border is adjacent to Doi Inthanon National Park, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, and the southern border is adjacent to Mae Pa Phai Creek and the Mae Chaem Industrial Estate Cooperative, Hot District, Chiang Mai Province
On the eastern border there is Mu Ban Pa Mai (Ban Mae Soi), Chom Thong No.2 National Reserved Forest Project, Hang Dong Sub-district Municipality, and the Mae Chaem Industrial Estate Cooperative District, Hot District, Chiang Mai Province, and the western border is adjacent to Bong Khet Creek, Bo Luang Sub-district, Hot District and Om Khut Creek, Mae Chaem Forest Plantation Industry Organization, Kong Khaek (Tha Pha) Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province

The majority of topographical fea tures are made up of high fold mountain (complex mountain landscape) that form a continuous mountain range running north-south, which is part of Thanon Thongchai Mountain range that runs parallel to Doi Inthanon. In the center is the mae Chaem Stream and there are no plains of note. It is between 280 and 1,980 meters above sea l’vel, and the area’s highest summit is located in the north.

The climate is classified into three seasons. From November to February it is winter, with an average nighttime temperature of 10-degrees Celsius. Summer lasts from March to June, and the rainy season lasts from July to October. Rain begins to fall in some years as early as mid-June, and during the rainy season, thunderstorms and strong winds are frequent.

The topography of the forest is of tower karsts and winding hills, with few plains and grasslands. Around 70% of the area is covered by deciduous dipterocarp forest, which features Hairy Keruing, Dipterocarpus tuberculatus, Burma Sal, and Burmese Sal. There are also mixed deciduous forests, dry evergreen forests, hill evergreen forests, and coniferous forests (pine forest). There is plentiful wildlife because the majority of the forest is deciduous dipterocarp forest and mixed deciduous forests including the Indian Muntjac, Wild Boar, Gibbons, Civets, Burmese Hare, Oriental Magpie Robin, White-Tailed Shama, and various snakes. In the Mae Chaem Stream there is an abundance of fish, including Mahseer Barb, Oblongus (Henicorhynchus siamensis), and Hillstream loach (Devil Catfish)

How to get there by car :
From Chiang Mai city, take Highway No. 108 towards Chiang Mai - Hot - Mae Sariang, once in the Hot District, turn right at the roundabout onto Route No. 108, and the National Park Headquarters is approximately 17 kilometers on the right.
