Mae Takhrai National Park spans the districts of San Kamphaeng, Doi Saket and Mae On District in Chiang Mai Province, and Ban Thi and Mueang District in Lamphun Province. The terrain is composed of a series of high mountains and is an upstream area of the Ping River basin that contains numerous vital species of rare plants and wildlife, as well as numerous beautiful natural features such as waterfalls, reservoirs, dams, cliffs, and mountains. There are approximately 320,750 rai or 513 square kilometers in total.
Background
In 1982, His Majesty and Her Majesty the Queen visited the people of Ban Mae Takhrai and became acquainted with their living conditions and occupation.
Buddhist principles and traditions have been practiced by Thais for generations despite their complexity and the poverty of individual Thais. His Majesty started the Royal Initiative to establish a professional development and morally promote individuals towards a stable and permanent career. This would provide sufficient food to eat and allow them to use Buddhism's principles as a guide for their occupation. To serve as a role model for the surrounding community Later, His Highness received an order and a latter from the Royal Secretariat directing the Royal Forest Department to establish a forest park on behalf of the National Park Department.

In 1987 the Mae Takhrai Forest Park submitted preliminary survey data in order to elevate the status of the Mae Takhrai National Park's establishment. Mr. Kosol Songsiri, Forest Officer Level 3, was appointed as head of the Mae Takhrai, National Park Division and Royal Forest Department in 2531. Additionally, the Mae Takhrai National Park reported that the park's operational area and forest area were merged into the Mae Takhrai National Park. The National Reserved Forest, Khun Mae Tha Forest, Mae On Forest, San Kamphaeng in Chiang Mai, and Khun Mae Kuang Forest, Doi Saket in Chiang Mai, are all upstream forests It had a sizable impact on the watershed class that the local people use for agriculture.

Mae Takhrai National Park encompasses a high-mountain terrain complex mountain landscape with slopes with higher gradients than 35%. The site is between 400 and 2,031 meters above sea level. It is a premier catchment areafor the watershed Ping River. The mountains are composed of karst topography, and theforest conditions vary considerably depending on the complexity of the terrain and the elevation. The types of forest are mixed deciduous forest, dry evergreen forest, deciduous dipterocarp forest, coniferous forest (pine forest), hill evergreen forests, and savannah forests. The Mae Kwoang Creek, Mae Takhrai Creek, Mae On Creek, and Mae Tha Creek are the park's primary waterways, and the important mountains are Doi Langka, Doi Pha Ngum, and Doi Mon Lan.

Mae Takhrai National Park's climate is classified into three seasons:. The rainy season lasts from May to October, from November to February the winter season begins, and from March to April it is summer. The climate is pleasant throughout the year with an average temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius.

How to get there by car :
It is located approximately 35 kilometers from Chiang Mai Province, 17 kilometers from Doi Saket to the National Park Headquarters, Ban Mae Wan, Moo 3, Pa Miang Sub-district, Doi Saket District in Chiang Mai Province.
