In 1989, ta period of protection and conservation of natural resources began, and policies were instigated to conserve the nation's natural fertile resources, such as the National Parks. Later, the National Park Division organized the park section's rangers to explore and establish the area as a National Park. The National Reserved Forest, Mae Fang Forest, Si Dong Yen and Mae Thalop, Chai Prakan District, Mae Kha and Mae Ka Sub-district, and Fang District in Chiang Mai Province, and the Mae Lao Fang-Sai National Reserved Forest, Pa Daet, Si Toi and Tha Ko Sub-district in Chiang Rai Province, are included in the territory. Doi Wiang Pha National Park encompasses an area of approximately 356.7777 square kilometers or 222,986 rai.

Doi Wiang Pha National Park is a fold mountain (complex mountain) range that runs through the Chiang Mai-Chiang Rai area, with the highest summit, Doi Wiang Pha, standing at 1,834 meters above sea level. The majority of the area is forested and is the source of the great waterways, most notably the Fang River, Mae Fang Luang Creek, Mae Fang Noi Creek, and Nam Mae Yang Min, which are all branches of the Nam Mae Lao.

The climate of Doi Wiang Pha National Park has three seasons: the rainy season, which runs from May to October, and the monsoon season, which runs from August to September, and winter, from November to February, which is characterized by cold temperatures that are conducive to travel. March to April are not recommended as , with an average of 36.3 degrees Celsius during the summer, compared to 11.8 in winter.

Forest conditions include mixed deciduous forest, deciduous dipterocarp forest, hill evergreen forest, dry evergreen forest, and coniferous forest (pine forest), which are distributed throughout the National Park in accordance with the area's elevation. Teak, Dipterocarpus, Burma Padauk, Lagerstroemia calyculata, Burma Sal, Burmese Sal, Michelia champaca, Benguet Pine, and various shrubs, mosses, ferns, and orchids are all common plants. Additionally, Thailand is home to somerare plants, including Talauma hodgsonii, Rhododendron arboreum Smith, Rhododendron veitchianum, and the White Rose. Numerous orchid species can be seen atop Doi Wiang Pha. The area's altitude ranges from 360 to 1,834 meters, which means it has fertile forest conditions and natural biodiversity so it provides food and habitat for a diverse range of wildlife, including the Indian Muntjac, Wild Boar, Serow, Asian Golden Cat, Asiatic Black Bear, East Asian Porcupine, Burmese Hare, Monkeys, Common Palm Civet, Squirrels, Chipmunks, and a variety of birds, including the White-Tailed Shama, Minivet, Barbet, Sunbird, and Woodpecker. Additionally, Salamanders (water lizards) and Amphibians can be observed, indicating the abundance of ecosystems. |
How to get there by car :
From Chiang Mai Province, take Highway No. 107 towards Chai Prakan District. at milestone No 125th at Ban Mae Khilai Fang turn right, and follow that road for another 12 kilometers to the Doi Wiang Pha National Park Headquarters.
How to get there by bus:
There are air-conditioned buses in Bangkok-Chiang Mai from the Northern Bus Terminal on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road several times a day, every day. It takes approximately 10 hours to Chiang Mai. For additional information, contact the transportation companies listed below.

A Chiang Mai-Fang bus departs from the Chang Phueak bus terminal every half hour from Chiang Mai city. Make your way to the Ban Tha market in the Chai Prakan district, then contact a taxi or motorbike for the 12-kilometer journey to the National Park Headquarters.
